About

Tony Pope

Twenty years of running the systems behind businesses, and a working platform depth across Shopify, Wix and Squarespace as both an owner and a developer. The brand is new. The experience is not.

Background

Where the judgement comes from

Twenty plus years working with the systems businesses actually run on: website inventory control, CRMs, workplace appraisal desks, and the integrations between them. Most of that work was not glamorous and all of it was the same problem a website project is: getting a group of people to agree what is being bought, then delivering it without the definition sliding.

Alongside it, operating Shopify and Shopify Plus, Wix and Squarespace, as an owner who had to live with the platform decision and as a developer who had to build inside it. Both sides matter. An owner learns which decisions cost money for years afterwards. A developer learns which ones cannot be undone.

No formal qualification, and none claimed. What is on offer is the judgement that comes from twenty years of watching which systems hold and which ones quietly fall over.

A genuinely good business, a website that undersells it, and nobody left who can log in and change it.

The pattern that comes up constantly

That is a solvable problem, and it is not solved by better design. It is solved by scoping properly, writing it down and putting the keys in the owner’s hands. That is the practice.

The system

What makes one operator deliver the same result twice

Not talent. Written procedure, and gates that run whether or not anybody remembers them.

Platform depth, from both sides

Shopify and Shopify Plus, Wix and Squarespace, operated as an owner who had to live with the decisions and as a developer who had to build them. That is why the advice here is often to use less, not more: I have paid the bill for the other approach.

Where AI actually changes this work

AI has genuinely changed how a website gets built, and it has not changed what makes one work. It writes code and drafts fast, and it will confidently invent a fact, a statistic and a citation. So it assists inside a controlled workflow with a named human review, and every fact on your site comes from you and is approved by you in writing.

The system is written down

Scope catalogue, pricing configuration, gate rules, contract architecture, release records and a handover standard. Not because it is impressive, because it is the only way one operator delivers the same result twice.

Built on this stack

This site runs on the exact stack I sell: a static build deployed from a Git repository, no third-party font or tracker request on any page. The calculator behind my quotes lives in the same repository, covered by tests, and every check in that repository runs on every build before anything ships.

Australia wide, from a Brisbane base

I work with businesses in any state and territory, and the build runs the same either way: a conversation, a preview address you can open from wherever you are, and a written record either of us can point at. Nothing in the process needs us in the same room. If you are near the Redlands I am happy to sit across a table from you, and it has never been a condition of working together, because a client in Perth gets the identical scope, the identical price and the identical handover as one twenty minutes away.

None of that is a claim you have to take on faith. The design system is published in full, generated from the real stylesheet rather than written up afterwards, and the accessibility statement says what has been tested and what has not.

I have not launched a client site under this brand yet. When I do it goes here with the client's name and their permission, or it does not go here at all. Nothing invented goes on this page in the meantime, which is the same standard I will apply to the claims on your site.

Contracting

Who you are actually contracting with

Evolution Web Studio is the trading name. The contracting party is ETP Consulting Pty Ltd.

Work is delivered by me personally. If a specialist is ever brought in for a defined piece, you are told before it happens, and the responsibility for the result stays with me either way.
